Applebee’s Cheese Chicken Tortilla Soup Copycat Recipe

I don’t know about you, but I love eating out at restaurants. The problem is that my budget doesn’t always support it since even a simple meal out at a restaurant can cost an arm and a leg. The good news is that rather than having to miss out on your favorite meals because you are on a limited budget you can use a “copycat recipe” to make your favorite restaurant dishes at home.

These recipes are reverse engineered to make a dish that tastes just like that one you have at the restaurant. The difference is that instead of having to pay the huge price tag for a restaurant meal, you just pick up the ingredients at the grocery store and make it yourself for a fraction of the cost. Not only that, but by making it yourself you get leftovers, too, which is always a good thing!

As an example, here’s a copycat recipe that I have for Applebee’s Cheese Chicken Tortilla Soup.

2 tsp. minced fresh garlic

1 cup chopped yellow onion

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

4 Cups chicken stock

1/4 cup green pepper, chopped

1 can tomato puree (15 oz.)

1 Tbsp. finely minced jalapeño pepper (optional)

1 tsp. sugar

1/2 tsp. hot sauce (optional)

1 tsp. chili powder (optional)

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

4 Tbsp. flour

1/2 Cup water

1 lb. cooked chicken, cubed or pulled

1 Cup cream

1/4 Cup non-fat sour cream

8 oz. processed cheese, 1-inch cubes

10 (6-inch) colored or yellow corn tortillas, 1/4-inch strips, fried

Roughly chopped Fresh cilantro (optional)

Sauté oil, garlic and onions in large pan until soft. Add the vegetable oil, chicken stock, green pepper, tomato puree, jalapeño pepper, salt, pepper, sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Bring to low boil, then reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Cut tortillas into 1/4-inch strips and fry in oil or spray with oil and bake at 400ºF (while soup is cooking). Sprinkle with salt if desired. Thoroughly mix flour and water, then whisk into soup. Bring to a low boil, then simmer 5 minutes. Add chicken and simmer 5 minutes. Stir in sour cream and cheese (to taste). The soup should be served at 165ºF. After serving soup, pile tortilla strips into a “haystack” shape on top of the soup. Optional: garnish with freshly chopped cilantro. Makes 6-8 servings

This recipe is delicious and is really great for cold winter nights since soup is always a warm, filling meal. One of the great things about this recipe is that it makes enough to feed an entire family and is pretty cheap to make. Even if you just have one or two people to feed the leftovers can be easily stored and feed you for a few days. It’s a great way to get restaurant-style soup on an eat at home budget.

Each end of the term of my daughters to school, finds us baking cheese biscuits for their festival. These are delicious, easy to make, light flaky pastry straws crunch bites, such as the cheese just more fun, like any other cookie cutter shape you like to be able to use. We have pigs, rabbits, stars, moons, hearts, fish. They are the perfect answer to the dilemma of providing a snack with a treatment for school celebrations and festivals, not to break the school guidelines to minimize the sugar, butis still fun for the kids. Are also an essential point to birthday parties for my children. The last birthday I was rolling and got mad cut from this type of cheese biscuits in the search for a roast dinner on the table before the ceremony in the afternoon. The original plan was for the children was to do all the work, entertainment and work throughout the rest will be used before, but the birthday girl was too busy playing with their new toy and the other too busycomplains that it was long before their birthdays, so I left to work in the last minute!

Today I had the five-year-olds for the biscuits with cheese, knead roll-out of animal form and then cut with cookie cutters. This still needs a lot 'timely intervention for the dough together, before setting up the frustration and hold to make sure that my youngest will be able to cut some shapes without destroying their older sister carefully selected scheme of things. I also had to make a batch of bread, while the kitchen when we finished the last piece for lunch, but used the rest of my energy reserves, so I solved the baked potatoes as a meal effort. The oven was in any case for cookies and bread, it was all in favor of energy saving … me and the world in equal measure.

Here is the recipe for cheese biscuits:

100g/4oz finely grated> Cheese

50g/2oz self-raising flour

25g/1oz butter, softened

Pinch of cayenne

For the cheese you can use a mature cheddar or 80g mild cheddar with 20g of parmesan cheese. Dare to give everything in a bowl and rub, Squidge and knead for about 5 minutes until it is processed together to form a dough soft. Yes, just like you, I hope it does so without help. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 2.5 mm / 1 / 8 "thick and cut intowhat imagination forms cutters for you. Bake at 200C/400F golden brown for 10-12 minutes. Cool on a rack. This amount will disappear very quickly, before they turned their backs on them at times, are very light and Moreish, so I usually double or triple the quantity for the festival.

The biscuits of cheese goes very well, but also adults. The last birthday party of a father from a plate full of shiny, like the birthday cake. They do a greatAccompanied drinks before dinner. It can be cut into strips long and give a turn to make cheese straws, then sprinkle with extra parmesan or find a more complex shape like a cookie cutter – the forms star would still good. Mind you the most laid-back adults would be just as happy as children eat pigs and rabbits!

Italian Dessert Cannoli Recipe

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Cannoli are a great Italian dessert and she says it's developed by Sicilians in Palermo, Italy. These wafers are fried with a mixture of ricotta, candied fruit, chocolate filling, and other ingredients, and are very, very tasty! The Sicilians are said to have created this recipe very sweet, and I think that simply delicious. I hope that this recipe is relatively easy to follow. You need some kind of dowel or metal pipe that you use the form from yourCannoli shells. If you have an inch and a half in diameter or 3 rings also have a ring of 3 inches, will this need to form the shape of the tank, too. You need to swim a fryer or a pot that is deep enough for these shells in oil.

Ingredients for Cannoli Shells:

3 cups flour unsifted

1 / 4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 / 2 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 eggs

2 tablespoons butter cut into small cubes Company

1 / 4 cupa good marsala

1-2 egg whites, slightly beaten

First thing is the flour with salt, cinnamon and sift sugar. Make a well in center of sifted flour mixture. In the middle of the fountain you did you must add the egg and butter and start mixing with a fork. Who will take the egg mixture with the work of the center outward fork, on a moist egg with the flour mixture. You can then add the Marsala wine slowly until dough begins to cometogether as a mixture Playdough. You can then start to form the dough with hands into a ball of pasta dough. Refers to it and leave the dough for about 10-15 minutes.

If you have a stainless steel surface for large, if not, you will need a work table in wood. You need to easily dust the area you plan to work with a small amount of flour. You will then roll out the dough into 1 / 4 inch thick. Will then use your 3 ½ rings and cut the cannoliShell circles. Will then use a rolling pin circles in rectangles or ovals on the role. Will then take your dowels or tubes and wrap the dough around cannoli forms. You will receive your egg white birch, and seal your edges of dough with a brush or very clean hands if you do not brush. They are then rolled ever so slightly the ends so that they have a very faint lip or ring on the edge of the cooked product.

At some point when you are ready to begin your bowl with the oilBoil the oil to about 350 degrees of heat. Once there at the right temperature to fry two or three starts in a moment of deep hot fat for about 1 minute or until lightly golden. Remove with tongs to drain on paper towels, allow to cool for about 30 seconds to a minute and then slip cannoli form, holding shell carefully so as not to break. Cool before filling the tanks. Leave it as it begins to make the load.

ServesCannoli filling:

3 pounds ricotta that had eliminated the moisture

2 1 / 2 cup powdered sugar

1 / 4 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces or grated sweet chocolate

1 / 4 cup candied cherries, finely chopped

1 / 2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 / 2 cup chopped pistachios

Powdered sugar to dust each of the finished Cannoli is probably about 1 / 2 cup

The first thing you want is to take the cheese and place in cheesecloththen wrap into a ball and then you can tie a knot at the top of the ball you have done to the wire. You want to keep overnight if possible, drain water from the ricotta. If you have a way to hang the ball of cheese in the fridge, it would be better. You must have a bowl with the cheese to drain all the moisture starting the ricotta. The shells you have the hole for a couple of days, if you want to do it in stages. They areworth the wait and the time to make these delicious little.

First, it will keep the drained ricotta and add to bowl and work for a minute or two to make it smooth. You will start to gently combine the cheese, and put sugar in a bowl and fold with a spatula until you get a light, airy blend of ingredients. Bend begins chopped candied fruit and chocolate, very gently. Then start with the cheese platterFill a pastry bag or a large ziploc if you do not have a pastry bag. Can then turn the top into a knot to keep the filling from emerging, and fill each of the cannoli shells, sprinkled the filling from both ends.

If you have filled all the shellfish you dip the ends of cannoli in pistachios. Will then organize all the cannoli on a plate and sprinkle with a little 'sugar powder, and they are ready. If you prefer, you can store some furniturecherries and has been applied to the center of each cannoli after the icing sugar. Then serve and enjoy.
