Abondance, a name-controlled cheese from the Savoy region of France, is made with fresh partially-skimmed milk and formed into 20-pound wheels. This extraordinary cheese is similar to Gruyere de Comte, but more complex and buttery. It has a firm texture, nutty flavor, and a distinctive fruitiness. While the strong aroma of this cheese may be a bit off-putting, the flavor is divine. In addition to being a delicious table cheese, Abondance melts nicely and is often substituted for Raclette.

Feta is a fresh cheese whose curd is preserved in a salt brine, which gives it a characteristic flavor and a specific texture. Originally created in Romania, Feta is now best known as a Greek cheese. E 'strong, not too strong, very dense, and wonderfully smoky! Until I tried it, I had not eaten smoked a lot, "food". When I read the other report, I knew that would bring in my two cents … and 5 stars! Excellent eaten alone … but the sandwich is great for … Delicious with grilled cheese! IfYou do not mind very spicy cheese … You should definitely try it. And yes, it is a taste of garlic, so you do … but honestly I never thought until the other reviewer mentioned how we both love garlic!

I loved the cheese, but was a bit 'disappointed that they chose the blue version with Gorgonzola cheese. As I enjoy this very special cheese I had hoped, one of the experiments that I am not so familiar. They arrived fresh and quickly and were well packaged in a reusable container with IcePacks reusable.

The world’s most famous melting cheese, Raclette is made in the Alps on both sides of the French-Swiss border. The French version is perhaps a bit softer than Swiss Raclette, but the two taste very similar. Raclette has a semi-soft interior dotted with small holes and a rosy inedible rind. Eaten as a table cheese, Raclette has a smooth, creamy taste that is neither too salty nor sharp. However, our French Raclette tends to have a strong, pungent aroma that is not for the timid. This cheese is traditionally melted (a half wheel is placed in a fireplace, then the melted top surface is continuously scraped off) and layered atop boiled potatoes, pickles, fresh vegetables and sliced meats. After 34 years in Europe, we were on the lookout for a good source of Raclette cheese back here in the U.S. Since we do not live near large cities, we went with the igourmet product. It was great, came quickly in a nifty Styrofoam containers and we enjoyed it. However, the shipping is quite high. We had an option to buy in large quantities, raclette, but does not freeze well and can only eat so many times in a season.
